About
Hello and Welcome to my Studio!
My name is Matt and I am the owner and head jeweler at Hand Forged Gold.
I have dedicated my life to the ancient art of goldsmithing, specializing in working with pure, solid 24k gold.
This business grew out of a love for gold in its purest form.
As an artist and a craftsman, I want to make something abundantly clear about my personal philosophy when it comes to jewelry making and a core principle of my jewelry studio:
"At a time when the world is moving toward mass-production, automation, and speed at the expense of quality, I am choosing to go in a different direction."
Hand Forged Gold uses Old World techniques to craft solid gold jewelry the same way that it has been done for millennia.
Every piece of high quality gold jewelry starts with raw, 99.99% pure gold. It is melted down, hammered and forged into shape.
I will not sacrifice quality in the name of speed or profit. Each piece of jewelry in my shop is made individually, by hand, with the utmost care. I do not use any form of Artificial Intelligence, CAD (computer-aided) design software, or any mass-production in the design process.
My jewelry is made piece-by-piece, by hand, with the utmost detail given to each and every piece of jewelry that goes out of the shop.
As the shop continue to grow, the mission remains crystal clear: to provide clients with unique, handcrafted gold jewelry that stands the test of time. I invite you to explore the collection and discover the artistry that defines Hand Forged Gold.
The 24k Gold Difference
My decision to work exclusively with pure 24k gold necessitates a rejection of the standard jewelry industry practice.
While many cultures around the world still demand high-purity gold in their jewelry, in America and much of Europe it has become common practice to insist that lower purity alloys (10k, 14k, etc.) are necessary for functional, wearable jewelry. This is simply not the case.
Ancient cultures have worn 24k gold for thousands of years. It is a timeless metal, worn by royalty and prestige that cannot be compared to mass marketed jewelry of today.
24k does not tarnish or corrode. My gold jewelry is 99.99% solid gold, and has a rich deep buttery-yellow color that is completely distinct. It will never lose its rich, warm luster.
Gold is also one of the densest elements on Earth, which you will notice immediately when you are put it on. It is substantially heavier than a comparable sized piece of 10k, 14k or 18k jewelry, which contain alloys like silver, copper, and zinc. Not only are these metals less valuable, they can sometimes cause skin irritation, allergies and even leave behind green/black smudging on the skin. You will never have that problem with pure 24k gold.
Jewelry Made Slowly
In the modern jewelry landscape, most gold pieces are designed using computer software to create a digital model of the jewelry. Your jewelry is designed on a computer screen, printed out on a 3D printer and cast along side dozens of other pieces, all at the same time.
Many modern jewelry pieces are created without even touching a skilled jewelers hand.
My expertise lies not only in selecting the purest metal but in applying the time-honored metalsmithing techniques that make it wearable and enduring. This is the difference between a mass-produced item and a genuine work of art.
Our customers deserve a metal that is as strong as it is pure, which is why every piece must endure the rigorous hand-forging process. This commitment ensures that your hand-forged rings and solid gold pendants are not just beautiful, but truly one-of-a-kind and built to last a lifetime.
